The Hybrid Stress Blasting Model is 'state-of-the-art' in blast modelling. For the first time, a single modelling framework has been developed which dynamically links an ideal and non-ideal explosives detonation code to a geomechanical rock model.

Integrated with the HSBM are pre-processing design and analysis tools, JKSimBlast (for blast design), JointStats (for joint simulation) and BMS (for blast data storage and management) all of which, in their own right, have the potential to become industry standards.

The primary aim of this JKMRC project is to achieve both scientific and physical validation of the HSBM code through desktop studies using available model scale and large scale controlled field data (e.g. single and multiple hole blasting). The work will also include the further evaluation, testing and debugging of all of the integrated JKMRC software tools.
